1. Target Creates A National Buzz With The World’s
Biggest Wake-Up Call
·
Target created a huge buzz prior to their Thanksgiving
Weekend Sale with what they billed as, and in reality turned out to be, the
“World’s Biggest Wake-Up Call.”
·
In this exceptionally unique promotion, shoppers were
invited to register online and receive an early morning wake-up call from a
variety of personalities that included Darth Vader, Cheech Marin and
actor/rapper Ice T.
·
As Target said on their web site, “Don’t miss a minute of
savings. Get to the Target 2 Day Sale early with a free wake-up call.”

2. The Hidden Secret That Lies Inside The FedEx Logo
·
A day doesn’t go by when we don’t see one of those huge
FedEx logos painted on the side of a truck or an airplane. But now, in a rare
interview by the designer of the logo, a secret is revealed. There is something
inside the logo that very few people have ever noticed.
·
Look closely between the E and the x and you’ll spot … an
arrow. The arrow was put in there with the purpose of signifying speed and an
on-time accurate delivery.
·
If you believe the subconscious doesn’t play a role in our
decision making, then you need to book some more time with your therapist.

3. Back Me Up, Scotty! In Need Of A National Back-Up Day
·
A day in November is put aside
to discourage smoking. Days are celebrated to remember our parents and grandparents
and various saints around the world. Are we in need of a “Back-Up Day”?
·
Imagine, as proposed by one town
in Ireland, having one day on the calendar to remind all the computer users of
the world to do a back-up and cleansing of their hard drive. And, imagine the
goodwill created if the major computer and software manufacturers sponsored
this day.
·
In the long run, a national
event like this could save companies thousands and thousands of man-hours. In
households, a day to do back-ups could be a bonding experience, with the major
computer companies and retailers sponsoring a 60 minute prime-time special on
every TV network, demonstrating the manner in which to do computer back-ups.

5. This Age Group Says “No” To Newspapers
·
Newspapers are having trouble attracting the readership of
one of the largest -- and highly prized by advertisers -- group of readers, the
18-34-year-olds.
In an article in Wired, author Adam Penenberg writes,
“that although many young people read voraciously, they have grown up under the
credo that information should be free, so they see no reason to pay for news. Instead they access The Washington Post
website or surf Google News, where
they select from literally thousands of information sources. They receive RSS
feeds on their PDAs or visit bloggers whose views mesh with their own. In
short, they customize their news-gathering experience in a way a single paper
publication could never do.”
A recent study by
the U.S. Online Publishers Association found that 18-34-year-olds are far more likely to use the
Internet (46 percent) than watch TV (35 percent), read a book (7 percent), turn
on a radio
(3 percent), read a newspaper (3 percent), or flip through
a magazine (less than 1 percent). [LBD2]

6. Most Americans Are Doing It! The #1 Reason To Sell Online
·
AC Nielsen says, in a survey conducted for eBay, that 84
percent of Americans will purchase at least one holiday gift online this year.
That’s an increase of 10% over last year’s holiday period.
·
In addition, those who purchase online are more prone to
purchase more gifts. Reasons for shopping online include: saving time
(78 percent), better prices (51 percent), more selection (43 percent),
easier shipping (40 percent) and the ability to find a more personalized gift
(28 percent). [LBD3]

7. The 60 Second Close: It Was The Year Of Getting Un-Wired
·
Closing the chapter on 2004 brings a reflection on how
rapidly we moved over the past 12 months from being wired to being wireless. It
makes it easier to communicate, yet are we communicating any better? Is the
right message going to the right people? And, are we, or your customers,
listening any better?
·
Our business is making sure your story is being heard the
same way you want it to be told. How
many ads that you read miss that mark?
Best Holiday Wishes and Please Keep Our Troops In Your
Thoughts
and Prayers.
